BMS Blog

I am writing this blog on Christmas Eve here in the city of Arequipa. Looking outside the window this afternoon, it certainly does not look or feel like Christmas!

It has been a busy couple of months here for us as a family. Language School has been intense, finally closing its doors on Friday for the Christmas break. The kids each said their goodbyes to classmates and teachers, which was a little touch for each them especially Jonathan. The community for us has been a great blessing, giving us much opportunity to practice our Spanish, whilst absorbing more of the vibrant culture here.

For Jonathan Ruth and Phoebe, school will start again after the summer break in March 2018. Please do remember them as they begin to process leaving Arequipa in late January, commencing starting a new school again, this time in Iquitos.

Within the busyness of family life, we have had so many opportunities to rejoice as a family in our work here so far. On the birthday front, Ruth turned 4 years on the 30th November. I celebrated my birthday 14th and Jonathan celebrated his 7th birthday on the 21st December. We give thanks for our lives, family and calling together. Although we miss you all, it has been encouraging to celebrate with new friends here.

Finally, we would like to thank you for your contact with us so far on the journey here in Peru. Fortunately, many of you we have met face to face, during our visits to various churches across the UK this year. Others we haven’t had the privilege of meeting yet, but know you by your constant emails of encouragement, your prayers for us and recently the birthday and Christmas cards. We want to say a BIG thank you to you all. To receive something in the post here, from the UK is a moment of great excitement here in this house!

Now the Christmas season has now started, we want to pray God’s richest blessings to all of you, as we all celebrate the coming of God in the flesh, Jesus the Son of God.

Feliz Navidad!
